PowerCLAY also offers the capability of creating free-form mesh parts from scratch. The example at right shows three stages in the development of a new spoiler to be integrated with the SUV. At the top a coarse NURBS lattice is created from cubic primitive shape, the second stage illustrates the shape being refined using NURBS sub-division to add control points, and finally, at the bottom the new part is extracted from the NURBS surface to form a closed manifold mesh with a point density specified by the user.
